07/04/2016 "The Golden Cockerel" will sing over Rhine

The artistic director of the "Helikon-Opera" theater Dmitry Bertman prepares a premiere of the opera "The Golden Cockerel" in Deutsche Oper am Rhein. The first performance will take place on the 15th of April, 2016.

The opera "The  Golden Cockerel" based on A.S. Pushkin's fairy tale – the last and the most mysterious of the fifteen operas of N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov in which the political satire and a parody get on with multiple-valued and unusual fantastic images heroes of the fantastic world are real, "live", and reality – "the pale ghost", "emptiness". A plot innuendo, impossibility to understand where kindly and where angrily, give the chance of various, sometimes, absolutely opposite readings of the composition of Rimsky-Korsakov. And these features of the opera "The Golden Cockerel" stir interest in a premiere in Düsseldorf: Dmitry Bertman's statements always different in unexpected interpretations, are able to surprise the audience with non-standard decisions and novelty.

The premiere of "The Golden Cockerel" in Düsseldorf has united theatrical masters of Europe and Russia. Scenery and suits to a performance were created by the artist Énée-Liis Semper, one of founders of NO99 Theatre in Tallinn. Axel Kober, the chief conductor of Deutsche Oper am Rhein famous for the performances in Royal opera theater of Copenhagen, Vienna Folksoper, the Hamburg state opera, the German opera in Berlin, the National Rhine opera, Zemper's Opera, at a festival in Bayreuth conducts a premiere. Also work on a performance the choreographer of "Helikon-Opera" Edvald Smirnov – together with Dmitry Bertman he has delivered "Rake’s progress" I.F. Stravinsky to Helsinki recently – and the stage director of the "Helikon-Opera" Ilia Ilin.
